Because of the distinct geographical features of Vietnam, the best time to go varies depending on which area you are visiting. The opposing monsoon seasons generally means that no matter what time of year you go, there will be some good weather somewhere! The North - is cooler than the rest of the country because of the mountainous area. November through to April can see the odd freeze and snow in the northern-most parts and whilst the other areas are cool at this time, it is definitely more bearable than the high-humidity of May through to October. The Central Coast - The warmer weather here is surprisingly through the winter months, with the wetter and colder weather usually from November through to May. This area often experiences storms and typhoons from July through to November so this is a good time to avoid. The South - is hot and steamy all year round with temperatures ranging from 21-32 degrees Celsius. March to May is usually hot and dry and the summer months are hot, humid and rainy. NOTE: January and February is an extremely busy time in Vietnam due to the Tet holiday which is like Christmas and New Year all rolled into one. Transport is tight and hotels are often fully booked.
